Implementing the Kyoto Declaration

This course aims to provide an introduction to and facilitate the implementation of the Kyoto Declaration on Advancing Crime Prevention, Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law: Towards the Achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was adopted at the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Kyoto on 7-12 March 2021. In the Kyoto Declaration, Member States made international commitments with regard to crime prevention and criminal justice.

In this course, you will learn about the background of the Kyoto Declaration, its relation to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the substantive areas covered in the Kyoto Declaration. A selection was made based on UNODC’s experience and the research and background information available to make this training course short and user-friendly, so the training course does not address all substantive areas covered in the very comprehensive Kyoto Declaration.
